Features
What it looks at
Retention diagnostics
Where viewers leave, which videos share the same drop, and what those videos have in common in the first thirty seconds.
Title and thumbnail read
Click-through by traffic source against the packaging that produced it, so you learn which patterns earn the click on browse versus search.
Topic gap analysis
Subjects your audience is watching and searching that your channel has not covered — ranked by how well they fit what already works for you.
Cadence and timing
Whether publishing more often is actually moving impressions, and what the data says about your best day and slot.
Competitor benchmarks
How your retention, click-through and growth compare with channels in the same category, so “good” has a reference point.
Shorts vs long-form
Separate analysis for formats that behave differently, instead of one blended number that describes neither.
Multi-channel view
Every channel you operate on one screen, comparable, with per-channel history and recommendations.
Subscriber attribution
Which videos actually convert viewers into subscribers — and which quietly lose them.
Plain-language briefs
Findings written as things to do next, not as a metric dump you still have to interpret.
How it works
Three steps to a channel brief
Connect the channel
Sign in with the Google account that owns the channel and grant read-only analytics access. Historical data is pulled in on first sync.
Read the diagnosis
Oogwai analyses retention, packaging, traffic sources and cadence together, then reports what is working, what is decaying and what is missing.
Plan the next uploads
Take the topic gaps and packaging findings into your content calendar — then check the next batch against the same measures.
Questions
Oogwai for YouTube FAQ
What is Oogwai for YouTube?
Oogwai for YouTube is a channel intelligence and optimisation product for creators, content teams and multi-channel operators. It connects to YouTube Analytics and reads what your channel is already producing — retention, traffic sources, click-through, subscriber movement, video metadata — and turns it into plain-language guidance about what to make next.
The app lives at youtube.oogw.ai/channels.
What does it tell me that YouTube Studio doesn't?
Studio shows you the metrics. Oogwai reads across them and tells you what the pattern means.
Where a retention graph shows a drop at 0:35, Oogwai relates that drop to the other videos where it happens, the intro pattern they share and the ones where it doesn't. It compares titles and thumbnails against click-through by traffic source, tracks whether cadence changes are moving impressions, and flags topics your audience searches for that you have not covered.
Which channel metrics does it work with?
Views, watch time, average view duration and percentage viewed, retention curves, impressions and click-through rate, traffic source breakdown, subscriber gains and losses per video, end-screen and card performance, and the metadata on every upload — title, description, tags, publish time and thumbnail.
Can I manage more than one channel?
Yes. The channels view is built for operators running several — a network, an agency, or one brand with regional channels. Each channel keeps its own history and recommendations, and you can compare them side by side. Multi-channel management sits on the premium tier.
What is in the premium tier?
Premium adds deeper historical analysis, multi-channel management and comparison, competitor and category benchmarking, priority refresh so numbers update more often, and export of the underlying data. Standard access covers a single channel with core analysis and recommendations.
Does it need access to post or edit on my channel?
No. The connection is read-only analytics access, granted through Google's own OAuth screen and revocable at any time. Oogwai does not upload, edit titles or change anything on the channel.
Does it work for shorts as well as long-form?
Yes. Shorts and long-form behave differently — different retention shapes, different discovery paths — and are analysed separately rather than averaged into one misleading number.
Who is it for?
Independent creators who want to stop guessing, brand content teams who have to justify the channel internally, and agencies or networks managing several channels who need one place to see them all.
